Immigration Physical Exams

What is Immigration Physical Exam?

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services requires all aliens pursuing green cards and citizenship complete the i-693 - Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination. The primary purpose of this examination is to identify possible medical conditions of applicants that may prevent status changes in the future.

Only a designated Civil Surgeon like Dr. Raphael Argueta can conduct the examination. He must perform the procedure, fill it out, and seal the i-693 form. You can submit the completed i-693 form back to the USCIS once finished.

The immigration physical exam requires all applicants to be free of specific infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis or syphilis. Moreover, HIV tests are no longer needed. Dr. Argueta may work with you to provide treatment or give you recommendations if you are diagnosed with infectious diseases. If for any reason you test Positive for Tuberculosis, he will direct you to see your Primary Physician to offer an adequate treatment plan to help you pass the physical examination and continue with the process of immigration.
